An original late-19th century Dr. Potain aspirator, an important medical instrument designed to remove fluids from the human body during surgical procedures.
Invented by the French physician Pierre Carl Édouard Potain, this device was widely used by doctors to treat conditions such as pleural effusions.
The set is housed in its original fitted case lined with deep purple velvet and includes the nickel-plated aspirator pump, rubber tubing, valves, and a selection of interchangeable needles.
