Luk Krok are rare Thai occult effigies linked to ancient folk magic and spirit beliefs. Traditionally associated with protection, luck, attraction, and supernatural influence, they are part of Thailand’s darker spiritual folklore. Their unsettling appearance reflects old ritual traditions connected to cemetery magic, sacred powders, and spirit worship.

The history of Luk Krok comes from old Thai folk magic and animist beliefs that existed long before modern Buddhism in Thailand. In ancient Thai occult traditions, practitioners believed certain ritual objects could house protective or powerful spirits. These effigies were often connected to cemetery rituals, sacred powders, herbal mixtures, and spirit invocation practices.
The word Luk means “child” in Thai, and Krok is associated with burning or roasting, linking the figure to older supernatural folklore surrounding spirit-child guardians. Over time, stories about these objects mixed with legends of Kuman Thong, another famous Thai spirit-child tradition used for protection. According to old Thai folklore, Luk Krok are spirit effigies linked to the souls of unborn or deceased children. In ancient occult traditions, these spirits were believed to become protective guardians able to bring luck and spiritual power to their owner.
