Set of 4 Caltrops from WWI (1914/1918)

Set of four caltrops found on the front line of the First World War between the Germans and French in the Vosges region, which was a bloodbath.

Caltrops were used to injure soldiers and horses, slow enemy movement, and disrupt attacks by forcing troops to advance cautiously. Imagine how painful it was to walk or lie on it.
